This is the second year working with coffees from Kayon Mountain Farm. Last year, we featured an excellent washed-process lot. This year, after cupping through many natural-process Ethiopias from Yirgacheffe and Guji, this one really stood out to us. It offers an incredibly complex and balanced fruit pop!
Kayon Mountain Farm is owned by Ismel Hassen. It has 25 permanent employees and 300 seasonal employees. The farm offers free transportation services to its employees, as well as financial services for schools and other projects for the local community. It also pays well above average wages for its employees.
In the cup, we have noted a whole cornucopia of fruits; mango, pineapple, plum, fig, green grape, several varieties of apple, raisin and fig have all been noted by our crew at various points. It offers a crisp acidity up front that really mellows to a more jammy sweetness. It offers a full, creamy body. Overall, this coffee is incredibly complex and very balanced.
Because most coffee is sold through the Ethiopia Commodites Exchange by law, single-farm coffees are the exception rather than the rule. It is also really special that Kayon Mountain Farm is a Certified Organic operation!
We are super proud to offer this incredible coffee to you!
All coffees are available in whole bean only.
