Our very first Ethiopia of the year! This coffee comes to us from the Yirgacheffe Gedeo zone and is processed at the Adado Washing Station. "Adado" is the name of the local tribe. This lot is gathered from about 7,000 farmers in the region. Cherries are washed at one of eight mills at the washing station. Coffees are then graded on quality and this lot represents the highest grade (Grade 1). They grow traditional heirloom varietals at a super-high elevation of 2000-2350 meters above sea level. Cherries growing at higher elevations tend to mature slower, retain more nutrition for longer and hence contain more sugar content. This higher sugar content is typically translated in the cup as complexity!
In the cup, look for floral aromatics with peach, caramel and honey flavors. It features a lemony acidity and a crisp, tea-like body. This coffee is a pretty classic example of a washed Yirgacheffe profile. It's a great coffee to kick off our 2017 Ethiopia lineup!
All coffees are available in whole bean only.
