This is our fourth (and last) Burundi offering of the year. And with Kirirama, we're leaving on a high note!
The landscape of coffee production in Burundi is challenging, and its history is one rooted in colonialism.  But this story is evolving, and is being transformed by hard work and relationship building across the globe.  Our importing partners work hard to navigate this landscape and we greatly appreciate their efforts in doing so. Their work allows us to taste a lot of the gems (like this one) that the nation has to offer.

Kiririma Washing Station is located in the province of Kayanza.  On average, farms here are just a little over an acre in size, and in addition to coffee, they also grow crops like bananas, beans, yams, taro and cassava for both personal use and for selling at market.

Because of the small size and yield, most producers don't have space or the financial means to own wet- or dry-milling equipment on their properties.  As a result, producers in this area deliver freshly-picked cherries to washing stations (wet mills) in their area.  It is there that it is very carefully sorted, blended and processed in various ways to create different offerings.  This is among the best of those offerings from this year's harvest!

In the cup, it offers a full, nectary body, citrus acidity and berry, caramel, and grape-candy flavors.  It is complex and delicious and we're proud to offer it to you!

All coffees are available in whole bean only.
